BitTorrent is one of the most widely used technologies of the Information Age. As a key backbone of the Internet it is used by Facebook, Twitter, Amazon, Blizzard, and very core platforms out there.

It was a brand that was just as widely misunderstood and vilified.

Having a heavy engineering culture, by 2012 the public perception was low. With most associating the name with fringes of sharing pirated music and film. But it was in fact an exploitation of the open source technology well beyond the companies reach.

This had a massive impact on the brand, as well as the ability to do business and grow as a company.

In 2012, all that began to change with the formation of an internal brand marketing agency. A center of excellence for brand identity, design, strategy, creative campaigns, communications, editorial platforms, social channels, artist services, web development, product marketing, user acquisition, and growth strategy.

Below is a short glimpse into the work that reclaimed the word "BitTorrent" and grew it into a cult brand with 200 million monthly active users around the world.
